First responders have stopped a brush fire that prompted evacuations in Laguna Beach, California from spreading any further than four acres.

A small brush fire was burning Monday afternoon in the Orange County community of Laguna Beach. The Rancho Fire was reported near Rancho Laguna Road and Morningside Drive in the coastal community. Flames were burning uphill in heavy brush with a moderate rate of spread.

"We're fortunate today to not have a wind event, however, we are dealing with very steep terrain," Orange County Fire Authority Captain Sean Doran said. Doran added that firefighters used many of the aerial units they had at their disposal,
