By Kirsty Needham and Alasdair Pal SYDNEY (Reuters) -Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's centre-left Labor Party was projected to win over the conservative opposition, Sky News Australia and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation said as early vote counting showed Labor in a strong position.

In a historic election that saw Anthony Albanese secure a second term as Australia’s Prime Minister with a landslide victory, the Jewish community finds itself at a crossroads. While democracy has spoken clearly, many Australian Jews are viewing the results with a mixture of concern and cautious hope.

Supporters at Labor’s election party in Sydney cheered and hugged each other as Albanese claimed victory and said his party would form a majority government.
