The first explosion set off a chain of blasts in Rome and was so loud and violent that it struck nearby buildings "like an earthquake."

Dozens of people were injured, including 10 police officers and a firefighter, officials said. The cause of the blast was not immediately clear.

At least 45 people were injured after a massive explosion occurred at a gas station in Rome. The explosion happened as a tanker refueled at the station.

A house fire was reported just before 12:20 p.m. in the 27000 block of Mandarin Avenue, according to the Hayward Police Department. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from injuries “consistent with a fireworks-related explosion,” police said.
