The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas negotiated in mid-January seems to have been written on tissue. It frayed midway through the first of three phases, when Israel declined to negotiate for the second phase.

As Israel’s forces push back into Gaza after a two-month ceasefire with Hamas, its political and military leaders are considering plans for a fresh ground campaign.

Following the end of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Israeli military launched attacks in southern Gaza and claimed to have killed a senior Hamas official. Israel also attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon in a retaliation for a rocket attack.
