"It's a goal of mine," Griner told ESPN in an extended interview this week as she prepared for her debut with the Dream on Friday night against the Washington Mystics. "It hasn't been in the U.S. for a while now, so I think to be able to play at the Olympics in your home country would be amazing."

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne had the chance to interview the longtime WNBA star and ask her decision to leave Phoenix. According to Griner, she wanted to have a similar career to her former teammate, Diana Taurasi. The recently retired star spent her entire career playing for the Mercury.

As the Atlanta Dream prepares for the season opener, the newest member of the team is Brittney Griner, as the move shocked some in the basketball world, as he had been with the Phoenix Mercury since 2013.
