A blockbuster trade proposal has the Cardinals trading star third baseman Nolan Arenado to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Nolan Arenado is being aggressively shopped by the St. Louis Cardinals, and while the Dodgers haven't been linked to him yet, they can't be counted out. Ethan Hyatt of Just Baseball listed Los Angeles as a landing spot for the eight-time All-Star.

The Major League Baseball offseason charges on, just a day after news broke that Roki Sasaki has agreed to sign with the Dodgers. Plenty of quality free agents remain (free agent tracker) and there's always the trade market.

The St. Louis Cardinals might not have predicted that it would be so challenging to trade superstar third baseman Nolan Arenado before heading into the offseason.

THE REDBIRD REVIEW Well, it’s looking more and more like Boston or bust for Nolan Arenado and the Cardinals. A robust trade market never really developed for the St. Louis third baseman, and the publicly known list of interested trade partners has dwindled.

The Red Sox need a right-handed power hitter and have been connected to both third basemen. But both players are imperfect fits.
