Cricket Australia has expressed its disappointment that Australian Rules team the Adelaide Crows refused South Australia permission to host the Sheffield Shield final at Adelaide Oval later this month.

Cricket Australia has confirmed the Sheffield Shield final will not be played at Adelaide Oval, saying on its website the AFL had blocked use of the iconic venue.

The South Australian Redbacks earned the right to host the Sheffield Shield final at the Adelaide Oval, but the AFL - on healthy and safety grounds - has won out.

A decision is expected to be made tomorrow on whether the Sheffield Shield final will be played at the Adelaide Oval. The South Australian means cricket team has won the right to host the five-day event,
