Even Margaret Qualley can’t get the haunting visuals of “The Substance” out of her mind.

Hollywood star Margaret Qualley has revealed that the prosthetics she wore in the critically-acclaimed horror movie “The Substance” caused so much damage to her skin that it took about a year to recover.

The actress, who stars alongside Demi Moore in the body horror film, says it took "probably a year" for her skin to recover.

What was not particularly intended to be a box office blockbuster has become very much so, and both the Maid actress and her co-star Demi Moore have enjoyed plenty of awards season buzz, with the latter earning her first major Hollywood award after over 40 years in the industry.

Margaret Qualley is proving she’s a Hollywood force in her own right. As if her striking features, raven hair and charming smile weren’t enough to showcase that she was destined for the screen, her acting chops and rapidly growing resume should be.

"It took me probably, like, a year to recover physically from all of it," she told a podcast about the prosthetics used in the film.

While Margaret Qualley has garnered high praise for her performance in 2024’s The Substance, she has revealed that the extensive amount of prosthetics that were required for the film took a toll on her skin.

During the ceremony, she presented an award with her Substance costar, Demi Moore. Qualley was also nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor, Film, for The Substance, but the trophy went to Zoë Saldaña for her role in Emilia Pérez. A winning night for women supporting women in Hollywood, indeed.
